I created Dragonfly Naturals about 16 years ago when I was teaching through a community venue, the art of making natural bath and body care products. I developed my own line of herbal teas and wellness items. Some of those items are shared here on this site. My love for gardening introduced me to the versatility of of herbs and herbal medicine. I had been interested in herbs since the age of 15 and began the practice of using them medicinally. I trained under a woman in Portland named Judy Seigal. She taught in what is called the wise woman tradition. This is an Ancient tradition that honors the ways of our ancestors. It allows us to hear the plants and elements speaking to us as co-participants in the healing process. Many of my mentors, Susun Weed, Kay Moon Dreamer, and Rosemary Gladstar teach in this tradition.
As a licensed cosmetologist and a licensed Massage therapist , I had much exposure and experience to both salon and spa treatments as well as multiple healing modalities. I spent some time teaching classes on making natural herbal bath products for healing and for gift giving and owned a salon in Portland for 12 years. My background is wide and diverse. When I moved to Vancouver I opened a wellness center in downtown Vancouver and operated that business until I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am a two year survivor.
My new venture is Dragonfly Teahouse at Home. This is a grassroots project aimed at assisting breast cancer patients with their finances.
I am passionate about healing ourselves, one another and the planet. I believe we are all stewards who have something to offer. Working together we can make changes that will become sustainable for future generations.
